Strategic Goals
Cloud computing is experiencing a fundamental transition from huge data centers to decentralized computing models that restricts latency, increases processing speed and reduces energy consumption. Thanks to the new technology, data produced in end tools such as smartphones and IoT devices are stored, developed, elaborated and transmitted through fog nodes to cloud services. However, the protection of sensitive data in such a decentralized environment is not guaranteed.
Solutions Developed / Used
The decentralized computing paradigm provides huge benefits in terms of reduced latency, increased processing speed and energy savings, but the protection of sensitive data in such a widely decentralized setting becomes a critical concern. FogProtect delivers new and advanced architectures, technologies, and methodologies for ensuring end-to-end data protection across the computing continuum, from cloud data centers through fog nodes to end devices.
